Telos42 · Compass for Retail Banking
Growth, decoupled from headcount.
For the first time, agentic AI lets banks scale origination, compliance, and distribution without scaling payroll. Compass for Retail Banking is the substrate that makes it real.
If activating a bank, modernising a core, standing up a regulated subsidiary, or putting agentic systems into production is on the desk this quarter, Compass is the fastest way to know whether we are the right partner. Spend two hours inside it. Decide on what you saw, not what we pitched.

Why now.
Banks have always grown by hiring. Every new product, market, channel, customer cohort, and regulation has been absorbed by adding FTEs. Origination scales by hiring originators. Compliance scales by hiring compliance officers. Distribution scales by hiring relationship managers. Growth and headcount have been the same line.
Agentic AI breaks the coupling. The reasoning that was an FTE, the case work, the judgement calls, the boundary between policy and exception, is now something that can be specified, grounded in the bank’s own data, and put into production against its core. Origination scales without proportional hiring. Compliance scales without proportional cost. Distribution expands without proportional headcount.
This is not faster bureaucracy. It is a different shape of growth.
But the prize is conditional. Most enterprise AI programmes underperform for the same structural reason. Models are pointed at fragments of the business that have no shared definition of the institution behind them. The credit policy is in one place, the ledger in another, the regulation in a third, the customer record in a fourth. The agent reasons against pieces, never the whole. ROI stalls. Pilots do not graduate. Boards lose conviction.
Without a clear, connected model of the bank itself, agentic AI does not compound. It dissipates. The reasoning is only as good as the world the system can see. A fragmented world produces fragmented intelligence, no matter how capable the model.
The shift only works if the agents reason against the real institution: its ledger, its products, its obligations, its constraints. Language models guessing at finance do not change the equation. Agents grounded in a model of the bank do. That model is what we build.
What Compass for Retail Banking is.
Compass for Retail Banking is a working retail bank, modelled end to end, wrapped in a connected intelligence layer that links every product to its accounting consequence, every regulation to its filing, every operation to its control, and every decision to the data and the people behind it.
It is not a reference architecture. It is not a documentation site. It is not a deck. It runs. It is the substrate we bring on day one of any engagement, and the system every Tavyaan agent is grounded in.
Most platforms ship a methodology.
Ours ships a bank you can log into.
Three ways we engage from it.
Transformation.
For banks activating a licence, replacing a legacy core, or standing up a regulated subsidiary on top of a mobile-money base. Compass becomes your model of the bank you are building. Strategy traces to code. Configuration traces to filing. Operations trace to ledger. The institution you stand up is auditable from the day the doors open.
AI strategy.
For banks deciding where AI earns its keep and where it doesn’t. Compass is the surface where credit, fraud, onboarding, treasury, and compliance decisions sit against the data and the regulation that constrain them. Strategy becomes a decision, not a slide. The model tells you what is automatable, what is augmentable, and what should stay human. And why.
SuperAgents.
For banks ready to put agentic systems into production against their own core. We build SuperAgents trained on, grounded in, and accountable to Compass, reasoning against your actual products, your ledger, your obligations. The world they reason about is the world they are wired to. Agents that compound rather than dissipate.
Where it came from.
Compass for Retail Banking is not a thesis written this year. It is the productised descendant of Virtusa’s Open Innovation Platform. The platform that originally underpinned APIX, the world’s first cross-border, open-architecture API marketplace and sandbox for regulated finance, built for the ASEAN Financial Innovation Network to help open the formal financial market to an underbanked population of 1.7 billion.
Virtusa Open Innovation Platform.
A purpose-built environment for evaluating, prototyping, and deploying financial-technology solutions inside banks, underpinned by a synthetic banking dataset of ten million customer records and forty million transactions, so the work could be tested before it was committed.
APIX, for AFIN.
A Virtusa-led consortium customised the Open Innovation Platform to launch APIX for the ASEAN Financial Innovation Network, founded by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the International Finance Corporation, and the ASEAN Bankers Association. Launched November 2018. Architected on AWS. Regulator-grade by construction.
Compass for Retail Banking.
From a sandbox for evaluating solutions to a working bank for activating institutions. Productised, operationalised, load-bearing.

Retail Banking is the first domain Compass models in full. Others follow where the work demands it. Built the same way, to the same standard, against the same connected graph.

How we open the door.
Walkthrough.
Two hours, under NDA. We open Compass to your team and your architects. You see the working bank, the connected model, and the agents running against it. No deck. The product is the conversation. You leave with a clear view of what is real and what isn’t.
Bounded sprint.
A short, scoped exercise against your infrastructure or your scenario. Targets agreed in writing before the sprint begins. If we miss them, you walk away with the diagnostic and no obligation. If we meet them, the sprint artefacts become the baseline for the work that follows.
Commit.
You commit to the engagement only after the system has been tested against your reality. The shape of the work is scoped on what we proved together in the sprint: transformation, AI strategy, agents, or some combination. You buy a result, not a promise.
What you keep.
An engagement with Tavyaan does not end in a binder. It ends with your institution able to operate, extend, and reason about the platform we built together, without us in the room.
The model transfers. The capability transfers. The agents are yours. Compass becomes your bank’s living memory: how it was built, why it was built that way, what every product does to the ledger, what every report draws from the data, and what every operation requires to close cleanly tomorrow morning.
We are not the dependency. We are the partner that hands you back something stronger than we found.
